In the village

Shikamaru was laying around on the same roof he always laied on as he smoked another ciguret a bad habbit he picked up from his teacher. Shikamaru stared up at the clouds. "Another mission today, how troublesome." closing his eyes he yawned stretching out his arms. "I need to relax more."

"Lalalala," Toshi was happily hopping around, watching the clouds as she went. The day was so peaceful... Then she saw a butterfly. Toshi hopped onto a roof and began chasing it energetically. She didn't watch where she was going, and then tripped on something - a person.

Shikamaru opened his eye as someone fell over him. "ugh how troublesome. You ok?" He asked sitting up looking around. "Oh great another kid."

"Hey! I'm not a kid!" Toshi huffed, pouting, and sat up. "I'm alright... Hey, you're...um...that guy...uh...what's his name..."

"I am one of the protors for the Chuunin exames and a former teacher at the academy here." Shikamaru said taking a drag from his cigurette before looking at her again "I will be proctoring you first exame, my name is Nara-sensei to you."

"Oh! Okay. Um, sorry for tripping on you, Nara-sensei," she said, smiling and bowing. "I was chasing a butterfly..."

Shickamaru yawned "Don't chase chou, they are beautiful little creatures and always remind me of my friend" after taking a final drag on his cigurette Shikamaru put it out. "It is time for me to help then others soon" the more to himself "I kinda want the exames to start up soon"

"Oh, okay, good lu- ooh, a butterfly cloud!"

"I really wish those kids would hurry up and find me now." Shikamaru said as he laid back down on his back. Shikamaru was getting tired of waiting for his students and the Genin from his village to find him.

"Hm? Which kids are you talking about, Nara-sensei?" Toshi asked, squatting down beside him.

"The genin from this village as well as the academy students I taech. It is sort of a compition between the two groups." Shikamaru said taking a final drag from his cigurette.

Toshi scrunched up her face as the smoke drifted her way. But she was used to smokers. "Wanna play a game?" she suggested excitedly.

"Do you know how to play shouji or go?" Shikamaru asked tossing the cigurette into the ash tray he kept on the roof there. Then he stood and headed for the bench choji and his father usually sit on and eat snacks.

"A little. But I prefer watching clouds," she said happily, tagging along like a little hyper puppy. "But I don't like doing it alone. Wanna join?"

Shikamaru stops turning with a smirk on his face. "What do you think I was doing before you can little kunoichi?" He asked as he sat down before leaning back and putting one leg on top of his other knee

"Smoking," she said innocently, her eyes turning dreamy. "And just laying down on the roof...?"

"Besides just that I was watching the coulds it is a past time of mine." Shikamaru said casually as he laid on his back watching the clouds not too worried about anything except the lack of security in the village. He would need to talk to his dad about this.

"Ohh, I see. But isn't a roof uncomfortable? I go to a hill to watch," she said, humming as she watched a mushroom-shaped cloud go by.

"You get used to it. I have been useing this roof since I was about five." Shikamaru said as he reached into his pocket pulling out another cigurette putting it in his mouth but not lighting it yet.

"Nara-sensei, why do you smoke so much?" Toshi sat down cross-legged, and let her gaze roam the sky.

"Shesh how troublesome" Shikamaru said fishing around for his lighter "It is something I picked up from my sensei although I had planned on quitting after avenging him. It is kinda something that helps me remember him now although Kurenai wont let me smoke around her because of that" he said frowning a little.

"Oh yeah, Kurenai-sensei is pregnant, isn't she?" Toshi asked excitedly. She ran over to the nearest tree and hung upside down on its lowest branch by her knees to watch the clouds. "I wonder what the baby'll be named?"

"It would depend on the gender but they will be under my care from the day they come into the world." Shikamaru sighed pulling out his lighter and lighting his cigurette. "This bites"

Toshi frowned lightly, and crossed her arms. "What, you don't like babies? Sure they drool and cry, but they're cute!"

"It is not that" Shikamaru said puffing out a lungful of smoke "I volunteer to take care of them as my responsibility to the next generation of leaf ninja" He said relunctantly. "I am not a fan of giving out infromation to strangs kid so lets just watch the clouds"
