Kaki slipped out of the undergrowth, grinning and pulling the last of her dango off of the stick.
"Wondered when you'd notice, mate, been faffing around back there for at least five - maybe ten - minutes."
She walked over to him and inspected the targets, pulling out a needle and tapping it against her belt with a percussive clanging while she counted.
"You're not bad with needles, are you," she said, finally, prodding the kid with her dango stick, "You want to fight a little? I've got nothing better to do."
She seemed to consider him for a bit, still tapping relentlessly with the needle, and then shoved the senbon into her holster and grabbed his arm.
"Hey," she said, "What the hell, I'll make you a deal. You like weapons, don't you, kid? I checked out your little pack of them. How about, if you win then I give you these?"
She held up a gloved hand, smiling, and wiggled her fingers.
"How about it?"
