Shogi (Naka and Samuraijin)

It was another boring day for the unfortunate little sugarball. Toshi was on the loose in Konoha with nothing to distract her. Kaji had to go because Miru would kill him if she saw him, and the little brunette was itching for a game of Shogi against a Nara...

Shikaku walked down the street towards his favorite hot-spot in the city. The Konchuu Cafe, a small joint that was run and operated by the Aburame clan, had a new tea that he had heard a lot about, and when analyzing the Nara's life, this was about the most exciting thing that has ever happened to him in a long time.

He gave a gruff greeting to the owner and say down at a table closest to the window, sitting a table with a shogi set and quietly slurping tea reflecting upon the day.

Toshi was drawn to the tea shop by the smell of..well, tea. But the thing that really pulled her in was the sound of moving Shogi pieces. She entered the shop, saw Shikaku and greeted him. He was the third Nara she knew. "Hi, Shikaku-san!"

Paused in mid-play and immediately recognized the voice.

"Can it be?" he said, turning around to find the source. "Why it is! Toshi, you little ball of sugar, what are you doing here?"

He invited her back to the table and ordered another cup of tea for her as well.

"So how's my little nephew Kaji, been?"

Toshi smiled politely and sat down across him. "I was just bored... Ooh, Shogi! Would you like to play with me? I'm itching to play."

She had never been good enough to beat a Nara, but she was fairly good at winning halfway.

"Huh? Shogi? Yeah sure."

Shikaku waited for her to make the first move, obiously a little bored. The only one who had gotten close to beating him, Shikamaru, had stopped playing with him since the Hokage had begun swarming him with missions.

"Oh, uh, your move first Toshi." Taking another sip of his tea.

Toshi grinned and started playing. Of course, Shikaku was winning. But she was having fun. "You're as good as Shikamaru!"

"Oh no!" Shikaku mocked. "Only as good as Shikamaru? Guess I'm getting old!"

He smiled at the girl, pleased to see that she was happy. He'd remember the times when Shikamaru actually liked doing something other than sleeping.

With the game wrapping up he had finally caught Toshi in a pincer strategy and finished her off.

"So, what do you think of the tea here?"

"Yummy!" Toshi replied, sipping on hot tea with a dreamy look in her eyes. "Feels as if I had my mother."

"Huh? What do you mean by that?"

The Nara asked, curious as to what she meant.

(Oh btw Naka, I'm gonna need yor approval for an item and jutsu)

Toshi smiled, and looked out the window at the sky for a dramatic effect. "My Obaa-san said my mummy was a great tea-brewer."

"Ah yes, maybe" Shikaku mused.

He picked up a Shogi piece and looked at it thoughtfully for a long while, before finally returning his gaze back to Toshi.

He now said in all seriousness, "Why are you here really. . ."

"I wanna play Shogi," she said, shrugging. "Your son was busy and I'm forbidden from meeting your nephew."

Shikaku considered the answer for a moment before nodding.

"Oh? Well that seems alright enough." he shrugged as well. "So who'd you come with?"

Shikaku called for the waiter to bring them two more cups of tea.

"I'm all by myself," she said, sighing. "I want a rematch!" Naka smiled, and started re-arranging the pieces.
