Chitose stood nearby, guards up, as she watches her seniors transform into another person. It was unnecessary for her, of course.

Kakuzu walked towards her in his new body, a tall, burly man with long, unruly brown hair. He bends down to undo the collar around her neck and placed the Akatsuki emblem bell into his pocket.

When they have their disguise completed, they started their way towards the village, soon facing the two siblings of the Kazekage.

"Hey..." Kankurou looked at Temari and pointed at the foursome that was walking towards them.

"What are they doing here?" Temari asked herself. She noticed their distict clothing, it shows that they were from the Sand country but she never recall seeing any of their faces before...

Moreover, what are they doing travelling across the desert on a windy day like this?

"Hey, there!" Kankurou called out to them. His eyes fixed at the tallest man, Kakuzu.

"...?" Kakuzu made a surprised expression as if he did not know that they were there. "What are you guys doing here?" Temari asked.

"We just came back from a long journey to the Konoha," Kakuzu said in a voice which isn't his.

"What were you guys doing there?" Kankurou asked.

"We were there to visit an old friend but we received news that something had happened to his family here," Kakuzu pointed at Sasori, clad in the Sand's casual clothing and disguised as a young teenage boy.

"_so we decided to come back in a hurry," Kakuzu said, his eyes never blinked. Temari looked at them suspiciously for a while and got distracted by the feathery rub on her sheen. "Oh!"

Temari looked down at her leg to find an adorable cat with mesmerizing blue eyes and snow white fur. "Where did you come from?" Temari bent down to scratch its ears and pet its head. The cat purred and licked her hands as she giggled like a girl.

Kankurou stared at his sister in disbelief, while the other three stared in amazement at Chitose, Kakuzu only rolled his eyes.

"Uh... she_ I mean, that's his cat," Kakuzu pointed at Sasori, who immediately glared daggers at him.

Chitose let out a small meow and ran towards Sasori. Her eyes fixed on Temari even when she felt Sasori carry her in his arms.

Miru, who had henged into a young woman on around 25, with long dirty blond hair pulled into 2 pigtails, looked down at sasori.

Sasori, who had short blond hair in the same color as miru, grabbed her hand and looked sadly at temari"it was a bad man who hurted my okaa-sama and oto-sama..he even stole a scroll from onee-chan", he said, looking up at miru, who apperently was his "onee-chan".

Itachi was quite surprised, he didnt know that the puppet master could put up so..innocent, but he also knew what most sand people were emotion weak on.

Kankurou sighed, he's so not going to deal with this. He looked at his older sibling, seeing the look in her eyes, he knew he's not going to get out of this.

"That is so unfortunate! Are your parents okay?" Temari petted Sasori's head and bent down to face him. "Oi, Temari. We're supposed to hurry up!" Kankurou yelled at her, starting his way across the desert, leaving her behind. "Wait!" Temari called out to him.

"I hope they're okay. You know what? After I found my brother, I'll help you find the bastard who hurt you, okay?" Temari said to Sasori and Miru, while walking away and waving at them. "I'll be back soon!"Temari said.

Chitose meowed at her.

When the two disappeared, Kakuzu grabbed Chitose from Sasori's arms and held her with his forefinger and thumb picking at the skin at the back of her neck. "Well, that was easy," Chitose said, facing Kakuzu. "Easy? Next time you try something without permission again I'm going to make cat soup out of your meat," Kakuzu said.

"You don't want to. Cats don't taste very nice," Chitose said. "Besides, I distracted her from the suspicion," she said. "Right."

Sasori was the one doing the work, though he had to say, if it were not because of her little cat act, it would be harder to pull Sasori's drama off. He sighed. "Can you put me down, senpai? It hurts." Chitose's ears drooped as she hung limply in his grip.

Kakuzu frowned at her and placed her back into Sasori's arms. Chitose rubbed her paws at her face and sneezed. "It's getting more windy, we should get going," Kakuzu said.

"yes we should...if i know temari right she will tell gaara about this..he will see past my henge the moment he lays his eyes on me..", Miru said, her eyes showing a little anger.

"hm..i surpose we can hide in my old home..it hasent been torn down yet..", sasori said.

"Yes, we'll rest there then for today," Kakuzu said.

They travelled for another 30minutes before they reached the village. Sasori lead them to his old house. It was dusty and looked like it was going to collapse but Sasori reassured them that it was okay. Since it gets really cold at night in this country, Kakuzu had made a fire in the fireplace. he took a seat on an old armchair and sat for a while watching the fire.

Chitose jumped onto Sasori's lap and immediately fell asleep, oblivious to the topics the foursome is still talking about. After all, she will only need to be given orders to accomplish her mission. She doesn't need to know the details.

Miru let out a small sigh, but took of her akatsuki cloak, reaveling her simpel attire of a sleeve-less black tanktop with fishnet under, some simple long black pants, and some black ninja shoes. MIru folded the cloak togeder so it would work as a pillow and laid down, fast sleep.

Itachi was wearing the same, exsept he had a long sleeved shirt on. The oldest uchiha sibling placed his akatsuki cloak over the sleeping miru, and his eyes feel onto kakuzu. "..Dont you ever miss you partner?", he asked, wich was unsual for him.

Sasori nuzzeld the sleeping chitose, but turned his gaze to kakuzu.

Don't he ever miss his partner? Hidan? Miss Hidan? Kakuzu looked pensive for a moment. Hidan was annoying, stupid, slow and was every reason he gets pissed off everyday. If he have anything to miss about that guy, it would only be the times he whined in pain when Kakuzu had to sew him up.

"Maybe, maybe not," Kakuzu answered, not really know what to say. Even shinobi has emotions, he knows that but it doesn't mean he have to show it.Kakuzu turns his gaze at Chitose, even though she was not really his partner but rather, a subordinate that works pretty much with everyone else, he's gotten accustomed to taking care of her. Justl like he did with Hidan.

Oh, Hidan. Or was he just replacing her with him? Using her to stave away his loneliness that was over whelming when that Jashinist is gone?

Will he ever see her as she is?

"Nnn..." The white cat purred in her sleep. She shifted in Sasori's lap and continued sleeping. Kakuzu looked at Sasori caressing her furs gently, his gaze fell on the calm, innocence on Chitose face.

We should move forward, and care for the people in front of us not looking back at the past and regretting for not protecting the lost ones. "I'm fine with what I have now."

"hm...i guess i can say the same..", sasori commented, looking unsual relaxed over being in his old home. "hmp, look at that, both beautyfull and so innocent looking in their sleep...", sasori said, referign to miru and chitose.

"hmp...dont judge by apperence..", itachi said, his eyes fixed on something behind kazuku, the air.

"I don't know, Itachi. But for in Chitose's case, well," kakuzu looked over at the cat. She always retained that form even when she's sleeping. He's gotten so used to it but the image of her, the real human her is still stuck at the back of his mind.

"She's just a kid. And, I understand that you never see her sleep before but it can be disturbing at times," he said. Chitose refused to sleep with the Uchiha, as he gets very irritable if someone does anything that stands in his way. He saw Sasori's eyes soften. Of course, he wouldv'e seen it too.

He know Itachi was going to ask what was so disturbing, but he kept quiet. Then the cat shifted. "Don't... don't kill him," her voice sounded sad and lonely. "Let me go!" She was afraid. Her body trembled against Sasori's lap, her claws extended and pressed into her own paws.

She woke up, panting, her eyes slitted and moving around rapidly to examine her surroundings. Then she went back to sleep, as if she couldn't see them. As if this was just another nightmare.

It happens quite often, especially when she's not really tired when she went to sleep. The first time Kakuzu saw her convulsing near him on his bed, he thought she was sick or something, but the trauma from her dream made her move around as if someone was hurting her.

The next day, she would wake up and tell him what had happened when he asked, though she acted like it was nothing and was mortified to know that Kakuzu had seen her in her crying in her sleep, Kakuzu was perplexed. Sometimes, she would wake up in her naked human form, as she stays a cat for a long time, she never have the need to wear something.

Kakuzu would notice the bruises and cuts on her body, which was unnoticable in her cat form because of the furs. He told the leader about this, and the leader had a hunch that she has something called the seventh sense. She would later on admit that whenever she's having a nightmare, she would always be chased down by something she doesn't know and getting assaulted by something she can't see and she would wake up in those exact bruises she obtained in her nightmares.

Luckily for her, those kind of nightmares doesn't happen often. Kakuzu sighed. At first, they were wondering what do the nightmares tell her or why it happens to her only. Later on they found out, they do mean something, that is connected to future incidents, though quite sadistically the messages is often hard to understand. Maybe he should ask her when she wakes up in the morning.

As hard as it is to ask her to remember her every nightmares, all he could do is stay close to her whenever she's sleeping. And be there, when she wakes up to let her know she's not alone.

"...give me her kakuzu...", Miru suddenly said, being awaken from the little scene. Miru took the trembling cat into her arms, inorging the cuts she got in her pale skin, and began to stroke her on certain places, and weird as it seemend, chitose calmed fully down.

"Hm, thats how you get you children to calm down eh?...", sasori said, amused. "I never really seen the good in having children, i have a brat myself to drag around on, on my missions..how is it being a father, itachi-san?", sasori said, looking at the oldest of the 3 siblings, who was father to miru`s datugher shiro. "Hmp...", was all itachi said, looking at some random place on the floor.

There are dark silhouttes everywhere. A large void in the dark blue starless sky. It was cold and she was alone. The silhouettes transformed into big wolves and they started their way towards her.

She only did what her instinct told her to. She's not going to win this match, so she ran. It was an endless chase, another nightmare.

How many times had she fell down and hurt her knees, she doesn't know. She could only curse that even if this was her nightmare, she couldn't be anything else than helpless. She jumped and ran up a tree, hiding in the dense leaves. Waiting for the wolves to stop sniffing around for her and leave.

Her eyes caught something glowing from a distance and she saw a mysterious glowing purple scroll. A large impact came from behind her, she fell to the ground with a loud thud and an image of her clan's leader, in a zombie-like expression, pinned her down, looking at her hungrily. "You will be submissive," his voice was rasp and dripped with acid.

"Or else, your brother dies."

She knows that her brother already died long time ago, but she couldn't counter attack when her brother's face appeared in the clan's leader face. "Don't kill him!"

There was a loud laughter. "Oneechan, it's your fault I died."

Tears pooled at the rim of her eyes. No, no more nightmares.

"Let me go!"

And she pulled herself from the creatures, forcing herself to open her eyes.

She felt herself being lifted off into another's arms, which was slimmer and softer. She couldn't open her eyes, reality is to bright. She was too tired. Even nightmares consumes energy. She felt her vertigo disappearing, and she was able to relax against the arms who became her solace. And once again, she fell into a deep sleep. This time, it was dreamless and peaceful.

Kakuzu looked at the male Uchiha intently. Surely, he would've felt what most fathers would. He wasn't one but he had one, not a good one though. However, protectiveness and worry comes first. It should.

Even though he never had a child, having to take care of Chitose was almost the same, though he never need to worry about her growing up like most fathers do. He liked her that way. Innocent and inquisitive, possessing the qualities like a child, and even the way she annoys. It could make anyone feel irritated, but when she's gone, one could feel the loneliness.

And they would prefer being irritated, as it could sometimes make them distracted from their current worries. It beats loneliness. The deadly silence that is overwhelming spells nothing but stress.

"The young would always rely on the older ones, so I guess that increases your responsibility?" Kakuzu said to the Uchiha.

"...maby...when you love someone...or some people...you will do anything to keep them safe...even if it means leaving behind you emotioness..or killing..", itachi said, wich was unsual much talking from him. He looked at miru all the time, he knew her pain of being left alone, the pain of leaving people behind you love, so you can protect them. Itachi had taken the duty of scareficing himself so they could seal away madara, but he would convince sasuke to make friends, or at least accept samu, so they could take care of miru, his datugher and jaschu, it wasent going to be easy, but he could see sasuke loved both him and miru high, even through all the things he had done, and soon would do.

"Miru, get some sleep, if chitose nuzzels herself against you, let her...shes very cuddly when she isent bitching", the red haired puppet master commented.

"Hmp..", was all the teen uchiha said. She laid herself down again, this time with chitose cuddled in her left arm, in against herself.

Drip, drip, drip.

Drip.

Chitose opened her eyes slowly and adjusted to the brightness of the day. The first thing she saw is a face. Miru? She looked turned to the side and saw Kakuzu and Itachi still sleeping nearby, Sasori, nowhere to be seen.

She remembered she was sleeping on Sasori's lap. What happened? She moved, carefully, slipping out of Miru's embrace without waking her up. It was easy since the flexibilty she have as a cat.

She walked outside and saw Sasori sitting nearby the entrance. He was probably keeping watch. She walked back inside, it is going to be morning soon, she felt energy pumping inside her. The skies remained a light grey, since it probably just rained yesterday, in the middle of the night.

Chitose sneezed and shivered. Gruuuuuuu~

"Aw..." she said to herself. Hungry. She took a peek at Sasori, who has his eyes fixed on his Hiruko, he's maintaining his main puppet. Chitose cocked her head. Time to go hunting. She walked near the windows and sneaked out. She know Sasori wouldn't let her go alone, but she needed sometime on her own, there are many things she wants to think about, and there is one thing that she wanted to make sure of.

She went over the village in a bird form. Her eyes scanning the village. Nothing was unusual. She landed nearby the Kazekage's tower and watched the red haired boy sleep in his room.

She explored further and came to a cave. She rested her wings there to take shade from the sun. However, when she landed on the cave, it gave her a cold feeling.

The skies was starting to warm up, however, the cave was cold. She can feel a presence deep within the cave. A mysterious chakra. She frowned. She was going to explore the cave, when the bell on her collar on her neck glowed.

She sighed. So Kakuzu has placed it back on her. The bell was used to communicate with the members. Kakuzu decided to put one on her since she's so prone to sneaking out. Sadly, she couldn't take it off on her own. The only people who could take it off is Kakuzu, the leader, Konan and Sasori.

She left the cave and she traveled to a nearby river, caught a few fish, eaten one on her own and left the rest wrapped in a piece of cloth. She carried the food with her mouth and walked back towards Sasori's old house.

When she returned, Kakuzu and miru had awoken, yet itachi remained sleeping on the old couch sasori had offerd him, it was understandable, he had been watching all night. Miru held a hand on her left shoulder, she was still sore, even through the cursemark had been removed from her, as well as on sasuke. Miru stood up and looked at chitose to entered the room, the mouth full of half-dead fish.

"He is as stubborn as deidara when you try to awake him in the morning after a long night..so we should stay here until he wakes up", sasori said, entering after chitose. He was smelling of paint and wood, wich probably meant he had worked on hiruku nonstop since chitose left, and hadent notice she was gone.

"Chitose, put the food down and then repeat that sentence," Kakuzu said. Chitose slumped her shoulders and walked towards Kakuzu, lowering the fish on his hand. "I brought food for you guys," she said. Kakuzu looked at the fish. It was hardly enough for three people to snack on.

"Well... I'll pass," Kakuzu said, he's not really into eating fish anyways. He passed the fish towards Miru and watch her build a fire to cook the fish. Chitose sat and looked at the fire. She liked the fish raw.

sasori watched as miru`s eyes were blanc, and that she really wasent focusing. "Oi..miru-chan...i know this is diffrent than waiking up..giving samu a goodmorning kiss, making breakfest for you children, send jaschu off to acadamy, say goodbye to samu as he goes to his ANBU mission, and then spend the day with shiro...but its something you need to get used to this...", the puppet master said, placing a hand onto her shoulder, helping her make the fire.

It was clear that the puppet master some-what saw miru as his equal being, something he didnt do with many, and well, sasori did like miru, he had grown to her almost like he was her brother, yet not the younger or older, just a brother.

Chitose sat nearby, licking her paws clean. When Miru had eaten the first half of the fish, and she had decided to leave the rest for Itachi.

While waiting for the male Uchiha to wake up, Kakuzu took the chance to ask Chitose about her nightmare.

"I was... having a nightmare?" Chitose cocked her head to the side. Kakuzu sighed. "Yes. You were. You said something about 'don't kill him' and 'let me go'" he said. Chitose frowned. So that was where her bruises came from. She walked towards Kakuzu and sat on his lap. "I don't know, but... do you think this mean anything?" She said, showing him one of her hind legs.

Kakuzu gently grabbed her soft paws and caressed the fur until he hears a small whine escape her lips. He then pushed away the fur to look at her skin. "It had been there when I woke up and it stings," she said as Kakuzu examined the weird symbol carved into her skin with something sharp and uneven. It probably bled and formed a scab which Chitose probably washed off when she was off catching fishes.

It was a circle with a horizontal line across it and a star, a cross, and something that looked like a pyramid within the perimeters. "Ow!" Chitose yelped when Kakuzu pressed onto the injury, causing the blood to break out from the skin, making the symbol clearer to the eyes.

He memorized the symbol and let Chitose go. Chitose jumped down and licked her wounds, walking towards Miru and Sasori who were watching the both of them. She showed them both the symbol too, but neither of them recognizes it.

Disappointed, she sat by herself, contemplating about it's meaning.

"hm..what could leave such a mark?..no known fish kind has such teeth stucture", miru said, as she took the little paw into her hands. A soft mindy green colored chakra surronded her pale hands, as she healed the wound, well, at least so the pain would go away. "..we should go and ask gaara if he knows anything about our ninja..if he had skill enough to steal from leader-sama, he should be known here", sasori said, not willing to refer to gaara as the kazekage, seeing that he had killed gaara`s father himself.

"Hai..", came a dark handsome voice, wich only could belong to itachi. He had awaken and was sitting up, his back resting against the old wall behind the couch, his hair being loose from the ponytail, hanging loosely down his back, shoulder and chest.

"Good, now that you're awake, we can move on," Kakuzu said.

The team started their way towards the Kazekage tower, lead by Sasori himself. Chitose kept quiet about the mysterious chakra in the cave that she encountered earlier, wanting to know about the scroll first. And her nightmare... There was a scroll in it.

"Here we are."

Chitose, being thinking about the scroll doesn't realize they had stopped and she bumped into Itachi's legs. She rubbed her nose and looked at the tower.

As the ANBU guard at the front door looked at them, he walked over to him. "What are you buiness, do you have a aporment in the tower?", he said, since they didnt wear headbands. "..Take us to gaara..", Miru said, her voice growing emotionless and cold. Her sharingan was displayed, catching the guard in a genjutsu, so he followed orders. The guard nodded, without any words, and let them in.

The foursome followed the guard into the Kazekage's office. On the way there, Chitose quietly sneaked away into another hallway and into the room stored with Kinjutsu (S-ranked) scrolls.

She stood there looking at the big sealed door for a while, then she transformed into a tiny white snake and was able to slide in between the gap beneath the door.

Kakuzu was the first to step into the Kazekage's office. The young red-haired male looked at his guard, then at the Sharingan user. His exterior was stayed calm. "What is your business here?"

Unusual. Convicts wouldn't usually go after the government since they are wanted criminals. Its weird to have one of them, or maybe four of them all standing in his room.

"We only want some information," Kakuzu said. All of them transforming back into their original selves since there is no more need to hide their true colors because the Kazekage knew their identity.

Gaara looked pensive. "What will I gain from that?" he said, sitting in his Kazekage chair.

"Nothing. But you will be able to void yourself from unnecessary wars," Kakuzu said, his teal eyes fixed on the young male. Gaara sighed. It is not possible that he would be able to fight off four S-ranked criminals. Moreover, he wasn't prepared.

"..gaara-sama, i nevber thought we would meet as enemies..", miru said, walking in front of kakuzu, since she probably would have the best way to talk, she had meet gaara years back during the chunnin exsams, but he probably didnt remeber her..yet, she was better than sasori who had killed gaara`s father, and gaara probably knew what itachi had done. "..we are simply here for information, a ninja with a suna headband stole a sX-ranked scroll from our leader..its dangerous for all if the creature inside is summond, without the presence of our leader.."

Gaara contemplated for awhile and calculated the ramifications of he decides not to conspire with them.

Chitose, back in her cat form, strolled around slowly in the sealed room. Getting in was easier than she thought, though none of the scroll they were looking for is in the room. She came to holding pen, something like a jail room with seals pasted over the metal bars. Inside was shelves of scrolls with mysterious chakras.

"Hmm. not what we're looking for either," she said to herself. Even though she was curious what was inside, she refrained herself from intruding it. She IS on a mission after all.

When she was about to exit the sealed room, she heard something shift from behind one of the big shelves. She stopped in her tracks and listened intently.

A brief silence, and then_ the sound of friction of the sole of the shoes and the ground echoed through the empty room.

"Who's there?" she called out, walking stealthily towards the source of the sound. Her cat eyes squinting to look better in the dark. Suddenly, a black mass of something appeared in front of her and ran past her, giving her no time to react. The sealed room was pushed open, and the alarm rang.

Gaara frowned and glared at the foursome. "I thought you were here for information. That's the alarm for the sealed scroll's room," Gaara said, biting his lip.

The sound of footsteps can be heard loudly from the outside of the office.

"That wasn't us," Kakuzu said. His eyes frowning too, searching for a paritcular missing cat.

Chitose quickly ran out from the sealed door and followed the mysterious presence, transforming into a rat to avoid getting seen by the jounins that is now crowding the sealed room.

She continued to pursue the mysterious presence, which she could make out now, a tall man, wearing a mask that hides his identity, his hand holding two scrolls. One she couldn't identify, another she knew well. It was Pein-sama's.

She turned into a panther and lunged at the guy when they were out of the tower's vicinity. The man dodged, knowing that she was there. He stood up and looked at her.

"You're the cat in that Akatsuki leader's office," he said, remembering the white cat sitting on the leader's desk. "Give me the scroll," the panther had Chitose's voice, though it didn't match its appearance, which was now a fierce, wild cat.

The man chuckled. "You wish," he said, as he turned to run again. She caught him and tackled him to the ground, giving him a large slap on the head with her large paws with the claws extended.

He regained his stability rather fast and he pushed her off with all his strength. She fell to the ground next to him, she felt her a sharp pain in her back but ignored it as she stoop again to tackle him.

She maimed the man's right hand with her fangs so that he was rendered useless to perform a seal. In the middle of the chaos, the man threw a bomb seal at her, creating a loud explosion and smoke. He took the chance to run away.

When the smoke cleared, Chitose was back to her cat form. Eyes glaring at the man who was getting away. No use chasing him now. Her eyes looked at the direction at the group of people who came to the explosion scene.

She cursed, and started to leave.

Miru saw the man leap out from one of the lower windows, and placed herself in the window frame. "I will meet you when i caugt the thief...", and with that, she formed some handseals, turned into a black raven, and follow the thief steady.

Sasori sminked to himself. "I can see you defence is as useless as when i killed you father gaara-san..".

Itachi formed some handseals, and darkness surronded them. When the darkness disappeard, they were in the livingroom, were they had spend the night.

Kakuzu walked towards the white tail that stood out from behind the wall, the rest of the body concealed. Once he had seen himself and the rest return to the living room in Sasori's home, he realized that he was mad.

"What the hell are you thinking?! going off on your own?" Kakuzu said, his voice loud with anger as he walked towards the cat. "..." There came no answer, no soft angelic voice to talk back to him. "Are you listening to _"

Kakuzu stopped in his tracks when he saw the cat. It was lying on the floor that had pooled with blood. It's snow white fur is stained with the bright red that seeped out from its back. It's eyes, closed and her eyeballs in a rapid movement, she's sleeping. No, she's having a nightmare.

"Wake up, Chitose!" Kakuzu shook her, trying his best not to touch her wounds. Soon the other two was alarmed and ran to his side. "Fucking wake up!"

The cat finally opened its eyes to reveal a pair of tired blue eyes. Chitose tried to open her mouth to say something but nothing escaped her lips. Her paws moved slightly to touch Kakuzu's fingers which was near her.

"Scroll... creatures..su..summoned...help..her," Chitose spat a mouthful of blood out and Kakuzu held her, pressing his hand over her wound to stop the bleeding. "I think she's talking about the scroll. Itachi, I think you should go find Miru," Kakuzu said, desperately feeling for a pulse in the small cat.

After Itachi had left, Kakuzu turned his attention to Chitose, who had lost most of her chakra and was unwillingly changed back into her human form. Kakuzu was surprised to see such a huge gash on her back, when it wasn't the obvious when she was a cat.

He sew her up with Sasori's help. After she was all bandaged up, he let her rest on the armchair. And they both waited for the two Uchiha's to be back.
