Kakuzu was swept away toegetehr with the curretns due to the explosion. However, when he opened his eyes, he saw that the creature is somehow unaffected by the kunai. It's body is too hard, like a shell that protects the life within.

They'll have to approach it in another way. He gestured the Uchiha to try again, while he made more bunshin to distract the creature.

Chitose held her breath, and tried to swim through the cold waters around her. She held onto the rocks from being taken away by the currents. She went back to the surface a few times to catch her breath and then submerged herself in the waters again to follow the chakra.

She came to a stop when she reached the inner side of the cave, she found the opened scroll with the flowing chakra underneath a large coral.

She dived down to reach for it, not noticing that the water levels had risen to the ceiling of the cave.

She grabbed the scroll, but as soon as she touches it, the chakras stung her and made her hand bleed. She coughed out blood and felt the need for air again. As she made her way up to the surface, she found herself trapped in the water without any room to breathe.

She made a hand seal. The least she could do is to get Miru out as soon as possible. She had kids. She had people who love her. She have people who needs her. Compared to her, the people she loved and needed had died long time ago in her childhood.

The least she could do...

The seal's flowing chakra immediately stopped, and the scroll sealed itself shut, falling from Chitose's hands as she ran out of air.

Kakuzu noticed the chakra around Miru disappearing and slowly weakening. He looked at Itachi and gestured at him to let him know.

Chitose saw a young woman with long brown hair, green eyes, a cuttet sound headband around her neck, and a large saber on her back, taking her arm, befor everything went black...

When Chitose finaly awoke, Miru was sitting over her, her palms laying on her chest, glowing green of chakra.

Itachi was standing a few feet away, with kakuzu and sasori, his hair dripping wet.

He was surprised to see Isji nagito, a young woman who was miru`s sworn enemy and "mate", to raiden, save the younger chitose. Isji had told he wasent allowed to know why, and had simply disappeard into the forest.

Chitose can feel the air back in her lungs, the sting on her head gone. She could feel all eyes on her as she sat up, near her was the Pein-sama's scroll lying plainly.

"I... What... Why?" She looked at Miru with sad blue eyes. Memories of the past came back haunting at her. The times she annoyed Kakuzu, the times she failed to meet his expectations, the times her clan decided to exile her... She's not worth it.

Kakuzu only stood and stare. He was not good at comforting people. He never was, no matter how much he wanted to be by her side. His body wouldn't move from his spot.

A smile was simply formed on the uchiha female`s face, for unlike madara and her brothers, she hadent forgot how to smile. "..Chitose..i owe you my life..", she said, stroking her cheek.

Chitose turned away from Miru's hands, a small tear ran down her cheek. "Don't be kind to me... I have nothing to give you back," she said.

Kakuzu sighed. That girl is always blaming herself, as he could already read what she was going to say.

"But if i had caught the guy who stole that scroll earlier we wouldn't_ you wouldn't have to..." Chitose closed her eyes. Not wanting them to see her cry.

MIru got to her feet and picked up chitose, holding her like she would hold her own dautgher shiro "..there there chitose"

Kakuzu sighed. He walked towards Chitose in Miru's arms. His hand reaching out to pinch her cheeks. "You're worthy to live okay? Stop thinking that you're just a burden to everyone. What happened to that arrogance you always had, hmm?"

Chitose winced, the arrogance was just a facade to hide what she really feels. It was never real.

"Hm, she`s not a little baby kakuzu..treat her like a big girl", Miru said, looking up at the older "immortal", man.

"She can be if she wants to," Kakuzu said and he continued pinching her nose. "If you do anything reckless like jumping into the water even after I said to leave it to me, again, I'll_"

"You'll what?" Chitose asked, hand pushing his teasing ones away. Then Kakuzu leaned in and gave her a small peck on her forehead. Chitose's eyes widened and stared.

"Just don't do it again," he said, placing his hand on her head. In a white puff of smoke, the said girl, turned into a small shivering white cat with a distinct flush on he face.

Kakuzu chuckled.

That girl. She'd always unconsciously change into a cat whenever she's excited or embarassed. Chitose hid her face in Miru's chest and felt like sticking her head in the sand.

"Hmm, so you have a crush on a underage girl, huh, kakuzu?..maby hidan was right, you are a pervert one", sasori commented, chuckling.

Kakuzu rolled his eyes at the puppeteer. "Hey, its not my fault if the girl likes me," he said. "That's not true! I like Sasori-senpai and Itachi-senpai too!" Chitose said to Kakuzu who looked proud at himself.

"and..." Chitose looked up at Miru. "Mi...Miru-senpai..."

Kakuzu smiled.

sasori raised his fake eyebrow. "..i guess the loss of hidan made you a happy man..", he said, it was the first time any of them had seem him smile.

Miru nuzzled her cheek lightly, making sure to trace her behind the ear

"Yeah, Thanks Sasori for bringing him up, really," Kakuzu snided.

"i wanna go home, we're done here right?" Chitose asked, not really wanting to stay in this country any longer.

"Yeah, well we'll probably be asked on to another mission once we get back anyway," Kakuzu said. Chitose asked why and he reminded her about the dead bodies in the pitsand ahe saw earlier.
