The mystery of the dead bodies (chitose and miru)

Chitose shivered from the cold water and shook her body to dry up a little. When she saw Miru's bleeding eye, she became perplexed. "I'm sorry," she said, looking at Miru's fatigued state. She knew the consequences of using the Amaterasu.

It absorbs a lot of chakra and it damages the eyes too. "I..." She saw Miru clasping her eye and she immediately said something Kakuzu didn't want to hear. "I'll heal that. I can turn into a phoenix and phoenix tears can heal_"

"Don't be reckless!" Kakuzu yelled at her. She jumped off Sasori's hand and turned back into a human form, getting ready to transform. "You know what happens when you do that!" Kakuzu said angrily.

"It's enough trouble!" he said, getting closer to her.

"But it's my fault she had to use that jutsu!"

"Everytime you use that phoenix's power's your life span will be deducted! Don't be stupid!" He was worried about the Uchiha female too but doing something so reckless, it's just wrong. He remember seeing her use it once, and her condition after that was catastrophe. It took her a long time to heal and as if she aged, internally, her organs began to work slower and she's started to get tired easily.

"I don't care!" she yelled at Kakuzu. Furious, Kakuzu slapped her without even noticing he was doing so. She fell to the ground from the impact and held her cheek, tears flow freely down her eyes.

Kakuzu looked at his own hand, as if not believing what he had just done. Chitose whined and got up, glared at him and half her body is beginning to grow the red feathers which was the beginning of the transformation. The phoenix form needed time for her to transform as it was a higher level of her Kekkei Genkai.

'I'm sorry, Chitose' Kakuzu thought and then gave a hard blow to the back of her head, knocking her unconscious. Kakuzu sighed deeply. She's easier to handle when she's not awake throughout the whole thing. He knew he was wrong for knocking her out. But one thing he do wish is that she'll wake up, forgetting about the incident just now.

Miru was the one of the 3 siblings who hadent worn her eyes out that much. Even through she used the mangekyo more often than them, her chakra control and healing abilities made it poissibol for her to minimum the damage done by the jutsu to the lowest, wich meant she probably could maintain her eyeseith for years, unlike itachi who was already half blind, if not more.

Miru picked up chitose and looked up at kakuzu, befor she lowerd her head. "..Im sorry, it was my reckless action that caused you to hit her....next time, hit me, not her.."

"No, i'm not going to hit anyone. It's just..." Kakuzu trailed off, staring at the girl in Miru's arms. Then his expression turned serious all of a sudden. "We have to take refuge, you and Itachi used up too much of chakra and she's not in her cat form which makes it a little harder to move her around." Kakuzu looked around and found a small clearing in the forest.

Kakuzu sat watching the fire as the skies get darker. He was the first one to stay awake and give the first watch. Miru and Itachi were asleep side by side, Chitose lying near them, clad in a white dress he brought for her just in case. Sasori wasn't asleep too. He noticed the look Sasori has been giving him but he ignored it.

He know what he was going to ask. He just doesn't feel like answering questions when he himself has a lot of question marks in his head right now.

Somewhere, in the middle of the night, Chitose woke up from the cold. She sat up abruptly and looked around, being just waken up from a nightmare. Cold sweat dripped down her forehead and she shivered as the fire has depleted.

When she saw no one near her, she started panicking.

"Chitose?" Kakuzu shook her up. Her eyes were closed, but she was hyperventilating as she was sleeping. Another dream? Oh, for God's sakes.

"Chitose!" Kakuzu shook her harder. She slowly opened her eyes, but she was still breathing hardly. She shut her eyes close again, one hand clutching her chest where her heart is supposed to be.

Kakuzu frowned. it must be the side effects of transforming into a phoenix. Even by initiating the transformation, the unusual chakra manipulation would start taking over her body and making damages to it. It didn't damage her much when she transformed for the first time.

Looks like it's slowly eating her away every time she did.

"Breathe slowly," Kakuzu said, pulling her and placing her head on his chest. "Listen to my pulse, and follow my breathing," he said to the hyperventilating girl. she slowly slowed down the rate of her breathing to match Kakuzu's. And when her breathing was back to normal, she fell asleep.

After a long night of sudden outburstes and screams from chitose, the sun finaly set, sending its yellow light over the little island once again.

Miru groand as she set up, being sinned in the eyes by the sun. She took a hand to her neck, feeling a pain. She took out a small mirror she always carried with her in case she had to look around conors, and gasped. She had red markings around her neck and shoulders, along with her wrist, as if something had been trying to drag her away

"What happened to your neck?" Kakuzu asked, looking out of the corner of his eyes. He sat near Chitose, his expression looked tired and worn out. Chitose was lying beside him, her face pale and scrunched up in a pained expression.

When they could not identify the rope marks on Miru's body, Kakuzu left Chitose under their care while he goes to the shore to hunt for their breakfast. After a few minutes, Chitose woke up feeling fatigued even though she just rested.

She was about to ask Miru again about the rope marks when a voice startled her.

Come back to me...

It was Kaname's voice. He sounded so close, like he was right behind her but of course there isn't anyone near her except for Miru, Itachi and Sasori.

Gorgeous eyes... Don't you ever, ever close it...

She turned around, trying to find the source of the voice but it only felt like it was echoing in her head. And then, a loud static sound screamed in her ears, she instinctively held her ears with her hand. "Anh....!"

When it wouldn't stop, she screamed, "Stop it! Stop it!"

Kakuzu, hearing her screams came rushing back to the clearance. Looking at the young girl, then he noticed that her ears is bleeding.

Miru quickly got a hold of chitose and began healing them, letting out a sigh. "..i need to enter her mind...theres something in between her memories that might give us clues..on why theese spirits..or whatever that makes the kaname illusion..wants with chitose and me..". The uchiha female looked down at chitose and hugged her closely, her mangekyo looking into her eyes.

Itachi let out a sigh as miru and chitose both fainted, a major defect about entering the mind, the sharingan user and the "victem", would be in coma until the sharingan user stopped.

Miru feelt a heavy wind blow accros her. She could feel tension in the air. She was standing in a nice looking room, with a full ocean wiew, this was apperently chitose`s clan`s mainhome befor the massacra..it reminded her of her own life befor the clan dead. Miru wasent alone in the room, she could see her own splitting imange, yet only taller with a sligtly larger chest, Mikoto Uchiha. The other one was the young man who was on the same age as miru, maby older, who was named kaname, yet this time he was alive, she didnt know why chitose wasent there, but she could see and hear what they were doing, but they couldt see or hear her, since she just was a visitor in chitose`s mind.

"Please, if it is you, I can trust, then I will put her under your care," Kaname said to the woman. Mikoto looked sadly at Kaname.

"I can't. You know what the Hiei clan's leader, her father, would do about this," she said. "I know, which is why I want her to leave this island for good," he said, frequently checking the door. It would only be a matter of time before Chitose comes back from her bath.

"I don't know, Kaname-kun. It's not in my powers and ability to decide," Mikoto said. "Please, I beg of you..." Kaname looked at Mikoto sadly. She sighed. "Why do you care so much about her?"

Kaname shook his head. "I don't know. She's just... special. I just don't want her to go through all that pain again."

"You love her?"

Kaname said nothing. "I'm not saying that I agree with Hiei's doings but_"

"If they succeed in taking her powers, your country wouldn't be save either," Kaname said, interrupting her and in a serious tone. Mikoto frowned. "What are you talking about?" she asked, grabbing Kaname's arm.

"like I said, Chitose is special. She's born with something no other Hiei has and her father is planning to use it," he said.

"Use it? What are you talking about?"

Kaname sighed. "As you see, the bruises on her arms and her back, they are not from the abuse." He looked at Mikoto. "They are the side effects of the experiment."

Mikoto's eyes widened. "Experiment? They're using her as an experiment subject?!" This is unbelievable, no matter how thin a father and his daughter's relationship can be.

Kaname nodded. "Chitose... she.. she has a special gene in her body that is lethal to everyone else. Her blood is poison."

"You lost me right there, Kaname-kun," Mikoto said, not fully understanding what he was trying to say.

"It happened when she was two. She got bitten by a wild dog in the forest. The dog died a few minutes later after a short convulsing. Hiei-sama, he noticed something off about it then. He started to take a sample of her blood and test it on other bigger animals and even a living human being. The results shows him that specific gene in her blood."

Kaname looked at Mikoto. "Hiei-sama, he.. he was planning on taking over the world with it."

"What do you mean?"

"He's making a virus from her blood. It's still half-completed now, but if he completes the making of the virus.. I really don't know what would happen then. That's why I fear. I fear for her. To complete the virus, Hiei-sama has been using her and taking more blood samples and I don't think she would be able to survive through all that pain if this goes on."

"Why would... Who could have think the noble clan would do such a thing_"

Creak.

The door opened and there stood the five years old Chitose, her hair still wet and she's wrapped in a small towel. She looked at Kaname and Mikoto then said, "Is everyone going to die because of me...?"

"Chitose..."

"Ne, Kaname?"

"No... It's not your fault." He walked over to the young child, reaching out to touch her but she shied away from him. "Mikoto-san," Chitose walked over to Mikoto.

"Take me away, somewhere far, kill me and bury me somewhere my father can't find my body."

Mikoto looked at the child, stupefied by her words. How could a child like her say something like that?! What happened to her that she broke so much? Is she fixable?!

"Chitose! Don't say such things. Nobody is going to kill you_

"That's right. But in your case, Kaname..."

Kaname and Mikoto's eyes widened at the voice. Standing at the door is Chitose's father.

"Being disloyal deserves a very heavy punishment..." he said, eyes frowning evilly at Kaname.

"Mikoto-san! Take her and go!"

Chitose woke up with a deep breath, as if she just resurfaced from drowning. She coughed a little and looked at Miru who just woke up near her. Her eyes widened and she looked at her own palms.

I'm a weapon...

My blood is stained with poison...

Then in her own illusion, she saw her bloodstained hands, the biomechanic killing machine.

"...you like me...", miru said, lookign at her, her mangekyo turned off again, this time without the blood. "..when i was younger..i was in love with a boy named haji..through..he was 16 years old...fugaku, my father..he didnt see a heir in sasuke or itachi...thats why he focused on trainning me..to become his weapon..so he could take over konoha with the amaratsu..", miru bit her lip and lowerd her gaze. "..he killed haji in front of my eyes so i gained the mangekyo..just because i was a weapon...i..". Miru didnt say anymore as she broke over in tears.

Sasori looekd down at miru, seeing her cry when others were there was very rare, but when she was alone, sasori could always hear her cry. He got to his feet and picked up chitose, befor lookng at kakuzu. "..itachi is to weak to carry miru...carry her until we arrive at the enterance to the lower caves..", sasori said, since he couldt carry miru for far, seeing that she was taller than him

Kakuzu picked Miru up, and looked at her. "I don't know how that feels. I probably wouldn't understand but hey, it's okay now," he said, walking not far behind from Sasori.

Chitose was in between the lines of falling unconscious and staying awake. She tried her best at keeping her eyes open but all she could see was blur images that surrounded her. She was made, supposed to have forgotten those. She's not supposed to know what happened to her past.

And Miru...

Selfish... They're all selfish...

A voice in her head said to her.

Why don't you just get rid of them... Selfish bastards....

Shut up.

They're not done with us yet. They want our blood. And the secret to the virus's success and completion lies within the venous liquid beyond your brightly colored eyes, Chitose...

Shut up.

Remember the eyeless bodies...? They're results that failed... It's ALL your fault...

"SHUT UP!" Chitose yelled, making Sasori look at her in surprise.

"Hey, you don't have to yell when I say something you don't like to hear," Kakuzu said, frowning at Chitose. He had been saying to her that she should stay put with Sasori and that it was too dangerous for her to go along with the mission, she was in a dazed condition until now.

"I...wasn't directing that to you..." she said, shaking her head from the fuzziness that attempts to take over. "The who are you talking to?"

"No one..."

Itachi walked besides the taller kakuzu, and looked down at his younger sister who had closed her eyes, sleeping..he hoped noting had entered her mind when she was looking in chitose`s memoeries.

Not after long, their arrived at a large open cave, and itachi was the first one to go in. He light up a flame in his hand, as they walked through the black cave. On the left side of the walls, mikoto`s name was written over and over again, in blood, and on the right, it was chitose`s name, written in blood as well.

"..whats up with this....hm..maby its a trap..", sasori said, looking aroudn carefully, yet he wondered why the creature seemend to want mikoto, or miru in this case, also

Chitose turned to look at Miru, then at Kakuzu. "She shouldn't be here... She doesn't know anything."

"What are you talking about?" Kakuzu asked.

"I... I remembered," she said, asking Sasori to put her down. They stopped walking and she sat on the ground as her feet are still to weak to support her weight. She pulled her dress up to her waist. Kakuzu onloy stared at her weird actions.

"You recognize this, don't you, Kakuzu?" she said. Kakuzu's eyes fell on top of the tattoo-like seal behind her back, it was small but big enough for the details to show.

It looked like the two alphabets. 'MW' but he thought it was just an odd birthmark she had.

"It's a seal. A seal that Mikoto-san placed on me, to lock off the extra foreign chakra I had in my body to stop it from changing my blood," she said.

"Is that why they want Miru as well? They thought Miru was Mikoto and they wanted to kill her so the seal would disappear?" Kakuzu said.

"No. They wanted her because she could unlock this seal." Chitose said, looking at the unconscious Miru.

"What happens when it's unlocked?" Kakuzu asked. "I don't know. The chakra has been suppressed for five years. I don't know if it would break out all at once or_"

"..miru learnd okaa-san`s jutsus..every one of them..", itachi said, looking at miru. Miru opend her eyes sligtly, looking up at the face of kakuzu. "..put me down..", she ordered, sounding serious".

"..miru you should rest..", "..im fine..im going to put a end to them", miru said, her eyes turning red of the sharingan. "Unlike my mother, i have the power to withstand them...they know nothing about the sharingan, since my mother was born without.."

"You should avoid from getting involved, Miru-senpai. If they succeeded in completing the virus then this world is done for," Chitose said, looking at Miru.

"You're not going to unseal that, right? You know what damage it could do_" Kakuzu said but was interrupted by Chitose.

"The only way for it to stop if the seal is to be broken," Chitose looked at Miru sharply. "Is to kill me."

Miru took a hold of chitose`s paw and broke off one of her nails, causing her great pain. "..my family was taken away..my friends in konoha was taken away...naka was taken away...i wont let you also...chitose..", she said, venturing further into the cave.

Itachi let out a little sigh but followed. Sasori nuzzled chitose`s chin to comfort her

"maybe you should just listen to her," Kakuzu said to Chitose. "And what? Let us get killed in the process?" she said to Kakuzu angrily, in her usual sulky tune.

Kakuzu sighed. "It's not going to kill you to trust someone fully just for once. You're always trying to depend on yourself and you very soon forget that there are people around you who wants to protect you," he said.

Chitose stared into a distance. There was an awkward silence for a while until she spoke softly. "Why do you treat me so kindly? I have nothing to pay you back with..."

"..between friends..helping eacthoder is whats makes us strong...", sasori said, looking down at chitose. "..akatsuki are you family, chitose..despite our goals and our countless agurements..akatsuki is a family for thoose who lost everything..and we will succed in stopping the sorrow in the world..". He didnt really belive so much in the last part, but the first part he meant.

2family..", the 2 siblings mumbled, whispering to eacthoder.

"Family..." A word once foreign and lost to her world. She has since then try to live without it. She thought to not have any bonds at all would make parting easier. But when the people around her are showing affection that she didn't seek, she realize that it's not that easy at all to cut clean all connections.

"I wonder who would do this kind of thing," Kakuzu said, this crime was even worse than transferring hearts to his own body. He looked at the bodies when they came into the room. Chitose didn't bother looking.

Kakuzu then walked over to the experiment tools, examining each and everyone one of them until he came upon a jar of eyeballs.

"They are definitely after your eyes," he said, pointing at the jar, which contains eyeballs and most of them with different hues of blue pupils. Chitose felt nauseated as she snuggles closer to Sasori. She doesn't want to look. Doesn't want to see the crimes that happened to innocent people that was used to get to her.

"..and its not the only thing..", itachi said, standing next to 3 jars of sharingan eyes. "..thats why the 4 side families never returned from their moving here..", he mumbled.

Miru didnt seem affected by the corseps and went on as the others did. "..maby they are trying to fuse the sharingan with it..", sasori said, wondering.

Chitose gulped. She thought her father was the power-crazy one, but who knew someone else was on the higher level of insanity?

Chitose's ears perked up when she heard something dripping from a distance. Even if it still hurt, she strained her ears to listen.

Drip. Drip, drip.

Thud.

"Someone's here," she whispered to Sasori who was holding her.

Miru and itachi turned on they sharingan and walked back to the others. They both slipped a kunai into their left hand out of their sleeve. Sasori rolled up his right sleeve and placed his left hand onto it the sealing makings there.

"Show youself", miru said into the dark cave.

There was a soft laughter. It sounded like a child's voice. Then...

Thud.

"There's three_ no, five of them," Chitose said, straining her eyes to see in the dingy cave.

Five kunai flew towards their direction and they were able to dodge it, however, when the kunai hit the floor of the cave, it exploded. Kakuzu was able to harden his body on the right time but he didn't know what happened to the rest of the members.

From the direction of the kunai was thrown just now, he identified their positions. He ran in a lightning speed towards the attacker closest to him. He extended his threads and it pierced right through the heart of his first victim.

A teenage boy with an evil look on his face. The boy widened his eyes at Kakuzu before he fell to the ground lifelessly.

One down.

"Who are you guys?" Kakuzu called out.

a young boy had snuck up on miru`s side and took her hand, a big chunk of his left shoulder missing. "Mikoto....you back...we are all glad to see you", he said, launging like a maniac.

Miru didnt even hesitate befor she slashed his head off with her kunai, leaping back, having her back against sasori`s.

Sasori pressed on the summon mark on his wodden arm, and with a blink of a eye, him and chitose were inside hiruko. Sasori moved his fingers as slashing sounds could be heard outside.

"Welcome back, Chitose!" A girl laughed evilly.

"How do you like the collection?" Another girl said.

"But we couldn't find the right color... So we went on a killing spree!"

"Let me out, Sasori-senpai!" Chitose said to him. She's not going to just sit there and watch them fight.

"Yeah, let her out, scorpion guy!" A boy laughed.

"Hey, Chitose! Tell ya something!"

Chitose frowned and turned towards the direction of the voice.

"Kaname's eyes were VERY UGLY! Hya hahaha!"

"Let me out!" Chitose yelled at Sasori. It was hard containing her anger.

"Chitose maintain youself..they are just trying to get you..im sorry for this", he took out a nerve poison needle from his left hand and gently tapped it into her neck, sending her off to sleep.

"i am not mikoto, she`s dead!, a long time ago..", miru yelled at a small group of dead children who had gathered in front of her. She took a hold of her neck when she feelt something bit her, a young man a little above her heitgh. "..you have her blood..you are dautgher..", he said, smiling like nothing was wrong.

"Which meant, you are able to unseal the curse on her body," a young boy said.

Kakuzu threw a kunai at him, it hit his head and the boy disappeared in a puff of smoke. So, they're manipulating corpse and using Henge at the same time? "Itachi! find the source of the chakra! Or else there would be no end of these kids!" he said to Itachi.

""I can smell her..." a young girl with blonde hair said, her dark orbs stared at the puppet. "She's in there. Oh.. I can smell her blood... how tempting..." she smiled, advancing towards Sasori. The other children followed suit and started to surround the puppet. While a group of older teenagers surrounded Miru.
