On Guard (nbird and Yurei)

The land of Rivers, a place to go when well… you have no where to go. Because of the Hidden Valley’s weak military and hiding places abound, many exiles come to call this place home for a while. And with them comes their secrets. But Tsukiakara had the job of watching the border of the land of River. No really to stop travelers and force them to go back, but rather to see who comes in so that it can be recorded. Tsukiakara never really like border patrol especially what happened the last time. He held his hand over his left eye which had an eye patch. Suddenly someone was coming toward him from the distance. Tsukiakara let go and sat upright on his chair.

Yurei was dead tired but anything was better then spending another night outside in the cold. The hood of the green cloak hid her face in shadows, her hands hidden but held near death in them (kunai), that is unless it slipped free from her frozen grasp. It had been hell for her during the week, traveling long and hard just to find some clue to where her family was...she looked down, losing herself again in her memories...though didn't really notice the guy that had just stood up.

“Good evening traveler, do you have some authorization papers?” He had to ask this. It was like the 100th time he had to say those words.

Yurei stopped suddenly and turned on her heel to the kid that asked her for authorization, "Crap!" she thought cause she had none but her face was straight as an arrow...that is if you could see it. "Why would I need that?" She asked in a bored tone but the suddle hint of exsaution could be noted as well.

“I just have to ask. If you don’t have the correct authorization I just have to have your name then take a photo of you that’s all. So what’s your name.” He pulled out a clip board with a pen attached waiting for the answer.

Yurei was almost out of energy, her head still low. "Yurei..." She said, only giving her frist name because she didn't know if her village would be looking for her, she wouldn't be giving out her last name. Numly, the kunai was still within her grasp.

“Yurei” He wrote the name on the clipboard. “Is there a last name that goes with that?”

"I don't know..." Yurei said honestly. Yurei's full name right now was Yurei Kaizoku but she didn't know if Kaizoku was even her real last name, "May I please go now before I fall over?"

“Ok, just one second.” He reached down for a camera. “Smile” He said as he took the picture. “Ok do you need directions to the nearest village or are you ok.”

Just as he was taking her picture, Yurei had pulled her hood down more so her face wouldn't show in the picture, "No, I am fine..." she mumbled which was far from true. Knowing her, she would get lost and would have to sleep outside again but she didn't know if she would be able to withstand the cold night again...

“Ok if your sure.” Soon someone else was coming from the shadows. “Hello traveler…” That was all he was able to say before the person pulled out a katana and charged at the two.

In an instant, Yurei had moved out to the side and around the stranger to behind them. She withdrew her hand with the kunai and as she completed her spinn around the person, she dove the blade into their shoulder as she grasped hold of the hand that had the katana. She moved so quickly that you would have missed it if you blinked. "Drop it!" she hissed, irriated at the person.

(The stab in the shoulder was to make it easier to disarm them)

The stranger’s wound was bleeding but it wasn’t bleeding blood but water instead. “A water clone jutsu?” Tsukiakara said as he unsheathed his two swords. If that was a distraction then where was the real one. Tsukiakara started looking around.

Yurei growled as the stranger had turned into water, "Jerks..." she hissed then pulled her hand back into her cloak before leaning her head down and standing completely still, listening to the sounds around her for any sign that the real person would appear soon and wear.

Soon a deep fog rolled in the middle of no where. Soon it was even hard to see Yurei even though she was standing right in front of him. It was faint but a strange sound could be heard. It sounded like…hand signs!!. “Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu” a voice could be heard in the mist. Tsukiakara couldn't dodge it if he could see where the water was coming from. This was bad.

Yurei smriked, "Same old, same old." She said before drawing out, instead of kunai, but a katana. "Were you following me?" she asked, waiting for the water dragon to come close to her before she dodged. (to let her know where to even move)

Soon the cracking of tree’s could be heard. “It’s coming at our right.” Tsukiakara said. He needed to use one of his defensive jutsu. He then shealthed his swords. Ram-Boar-Ox-Dog-Snake. He did those hand signs and then made a jump for it.

(substitution jutsu)

"Only in dire need..." Yurei said and moved out of the way and around, "Give me back what you took..." She was heading towards where the dragon came but heard movement somewhere to her left but couldn't tell where.

Soon kunai were flying toward Yukei. Not from where the dragon came but from the left. Kunai also hit the log that replaced Tsukiakara. *There must be another person* Tsukiakara thought to himself.

Yurei was slowly becoming more annoyed by the minute, "You bunch of lily-livered cowards, can't even come face to face with the person you are trying to kill. How weak can you get?" Yurei said as she was coming to the point of where the dragon came.

Laughing could be heard as the dragon finally came. “Look out!!” He said to try and warn Yukei. But this gave away his position and the enemy wasn’t going to hit a mere log. Several kunai pierced into Tsukiakara’s chest and he fell backwards.

Yurei spun around to finally met with the person who was attacking them but unfortunately for them, they met the end of her blade. "Hey kid!" Yurei said, only now registering that he had called out. The fog was still thick, "Where are you?" (she doesn't know)

Tsukiakara was in pain. Why does he always get injured on border patrol. Soon a shadow came from the mist. It had a axe in hand and was laughing. He was approaching. If he didn’t do something fast it would be the end of him. Using what little strength he had he pulled out on of his swords and threw it a the enemy. I must of work because the man was screaming in pain and fell down died. The mist wore off as the last man died. Tsukiakara’s blade stuck right in his heart. He got up and pulled the blade out of the man. Because of his swords ability not a single drop of blood was shed from the man. Though the same couldn’t have been said for Tsukiakara.

Yurei sighed in releif when the mist rolled away, "Thank goodness..." she mumbled then looked over to the kid, "Hey, kid, you ok?" she asked as she walked over to him then saw the kunai's in his chest, it felt like she got hit with one too. "I'm..." she said as she had stopped walking towards him...

"Everywhere you go...you will cause nothing but pain...."

“It’s ok.” he said as he started yanking the kunai out one by one. “I’ve been through much worse” he tried to say with a smile.
